‘Tis the season to eat, drink, and justify all of your questionable decisions with a simple ‘it’s Christmas‘. And where better to partake in that holy trinity of festive activities than inside one of London’s plethora of pubs? New research has recently revealed the bustling boozers that are set to be the busiest over the Christmas period. So, whether you want to attempt to avoid the crowds or fancy donning some festive headwear and diving right into them, here’s the lowdown.
The research in question comes courtesy of leading family app, Life360. They looked at the number of visits (lasting over an hour) that each pub received during the month of December last year. They then crunched the numbers like a packet of pork scratching to create a list of the 10 busiest pubs in London.
The busiest pub in London
Topping the chock-a-block charts is a historic hotspot over in Moorgate. The Globe is a Grade II listed pub that sits proudly on site of a very famous poet’s birthplace. Keats was born in 1795 at the Swan and Hoop Livery Stables (the building that occupied the site prior to The Globe). One of the pub’s bars is named in Keats’ honour, and there’s a plaque marking the claim to fame as well.

The research revealed that Londoners are clearly prioritising convenience and connectivity, as the majority of the busy boozers on the list are situated near key transport links. The list also suggests that people aren’t shying away from a post-work pint, with plenty of pubs on the list being near offices and business hubs. With three Wetherspoon pubs earning themselves a place on the list, the research suggests that we Londoners certainly can’t resist a cheap and cheerful spot when it comes to our seasonal socialising. Who can really blame us?
