A Brussels Sprouts Restaurant Is Opening In London This Month

Just the mention of Brussels Sprouts is sure to deliver an extreme reaction to just about anymore. Many of us (myself included) feel a precise horror at the mere thought of the green devils going anywhere near our Christmas dinners; but must face them through gritted teeth as there’s always at least one family member who practically faints at the though of not having a batch cooked up.

For those that fall on the “love” end of the spectrum when it comes the sprouts, you’re in luck. A restaurant dedicated entirely to the things is landing in London this month. Instead of enjoying them alongside a slap up roast, however, Brussels Sprouts-based dishes will be the only items on the entire menu! Pure indulgence (for some).

Yay or nay?

Brought to the city by Tastecard, the infamous festive vegetable will get their day(s) in the sun from December 7-9 in Islington next week. A three- course meal featuring brussels sprouts only will be the menu of the day at their Micawber Street location. Oh, and don’t think they forgot about your sprouty drinks. Guests will be offered bellini’s infused with the festive stuff (why drink Baileys at Christmas when you could have sprout bellini’s, eh?).

On the set menu you’ll find plenty of devilish dishes, including a brussels arancini with spiced tomato and nigella sauce; lamb kofte with shredded brussels tabbouleh and pomegranate,;brussels sprout risotto with lemon, chilli and hazelnuts; and a host of other brussels-y options. Tasty? Let’s see. Sprouty? You bet.

And, to crown the occasions for all those who celebrate brussels sprouts, diners will enjoy entertainment from drag queen, HERR, dressed fully as – you guessed it – a brussels sprout. Not bad for a bit of festive meal entertainment, is it?

Plus, it’s all for a great cause, with all profits going towards FareShare.

Matt Turner, founder & CEO of tastecard , said: “Tastecard knows how to deliver unforgettable and unique dining experiences and we’re certainly doing that with the ‘Brussels Sprouts Restaurant’. No matter how you feel about the divisive vegetable, our exclusive Tastecard pop-up will offer guests an unforgettable festive dining experience like no other”.

Praise the sprouts over at this pop-up sprouts restaurant from 7-9 December at 7pm-9pm over at 15 Micawber Street, London, N1 7TB (nearest stations are Angel and Old Street). Tickets cost £22.15 and guarantee your three-course tasting meal.
