Sometimes, it’s the combinations you would never think of that fit just as well as, say, Strawberries and cream. Though it may not reach that classic status just yet, we are very much here for an unexpected Duck & Waffle x Polar Express linkup this Christmas.
Known as the “highest 24-hour restaurant” in London, Duck And Waffle are inviting their guests to take a journey through the sky as their 40th floor paradise is transformed into the most festive train-themed eatery you could dream of.
A station based on the beloved Christmas tale of The Polar Express (2004) awaits keen festive diners at the popular Liverpool Street site. Upon entry, you’ll become a “passenger”, greeted at Duck & Waffle’s station platform which boasts ticket kiosks and waiting rooms fit for festive royalty. Here, you’ll enjoy sipping on festive beverages, such as a naughty festive take on hot chocolate – made with mulled wine, brandy, port, grated chocolate. Then, you’ll be sat in your imaginative carriage to tuck into a delectable four- course menu, toasting beside frosted windows.
Where is the train bound, you ask? ” Why, the North Pole, of course”. You’ll be seated in the main dining room, before embarking on your adventure on the North Pole-bound locomotive, leaving London’s bright lights for the snowy paradise among the clouds. A true nostalgia trip, if there ever was one.
And, of course, the classy collaboration have plans up their sleeves for the two big days in the calendar: Christmas Day and New Year’s. For December 25, head chef Elliot Grover will offer a curated four-course menu. Greeted with your naughty hot chocolate, followed by a multitude of delights including a stunning lobster cocktail with Marie Rose sauce, horseradish and Exmoor caviar. Champagne will, obviously, also be on the cards.
Duck & Waffle also have you covered for your lively New Year’s celebrations, seeing in 2022 up in the sky. Dancing toy soldiers, dancing snowflake ballerinas, live DJs and a classic countdown is just some of the entertainment on offer for those wishing to welcome the new year up in Polar Express-themed clouds.
