Due to the ongoing situation in the Middle East causing significant airspace instability, the UK’s flag carrier airline, British Airways, has announced that it will be making some rather major changes to its flight schedule over the coming weeks and months.
British Airways confirmed yesterday (March 10) that it will be cancelling all flights to and from Amman (Jordan), Bahrain, Doha (Qatar), Dubai (United Arab Emirates), and Tel Aviv (Israel) until ‘later this month’ and cancelling all flights to Abu Dhabi (United Arab Emirates) until ‘later this year’. British Airways is one of many airlines that have had to cancel flights due to the circumstances.
British Airways has said that the situation is ‘under constant review’ and that they’ve been in touch with affected customers to offer them ‘a range of options’. Prior to these cancellations, British Airways operated 7 flights a week from London Heathrow to Abu Dhabi, so hundreds of flights (and thousands of passengers) are expected to be affected by these cancellations.
If you are due to fly to or from the Middle East in the coming days and weeks, we’d recommend keeping your eyes peeled on your airline’s website and also staying up to date with the latest news and advice from the UK government’s Foreign Office.
