Ever dreamed of exploring the stars? Well, a new immersive experience in London is not just taking you into space – it’s taking you into the future. Bridge Command is a Star-Trek-inspired experience that drops guests on board a working spaceship to play their way through intergalactic missions.
Tucked away under railway arches in Vauxhall, Bridge Command utilizes a combination of live actors and cutting-edge technology to immerse guests. Participants will join a crew of up to 14 officers – each with a unique role and job to perform. As you fly through space you’ll receive missions that range from Diplomacy to Exploration, and even Front Line missions that drop you into a space battle with enemy forces.
But Bridge Control is much more than just a well-designed escape room, or a game of challenges with clear tasks to complete. Instead, it’s like living inside a role-playing video game. Within the confines of the experience, you can do almost anything! In fact, each mission will play out differently according to how participants respond and tackle the briefs.
The Bridge Command experience
Naturally, you’ve got to look the part – so when you arrive you’ll get suited up in the uniform before you join the crew. Player roles range across subteams, such as Helm (spaceship flight and navigation), Comms (the voice of the crew), and Weapons. Or you might even step into the role of the Caption – “It’s your ship. Your crew. Your decisions.”
As you progress through Bridge Command, your role will change and characters will react differently to you based on your reputation. You may even be rewarded for impressive performance. “Play your cards right, and you may even earn a medal or patch for your uniform…”
If you end up coming back for another go, you’ll return to the same story you were part of before. You’ll jump back into the action, and your previous experience will impact how the next one plays out.
Joining the experience
Guests can join a public experience, which will see them adventuring through space with other participants. Or you can book a private event for just you and your friends to head for the skies.
There are also ‘Cadet’ tickets for under-16s, which allow them to join age-friendly experiences that are only open to those under 16. No chance of a pesky adult ruining your fun!
The spaceships were designed and built by London-based fabricators Illusion Design and Construct. The experience, meanwhile, comes to Londoners courtesy of Parabolic Theatre, who have been creating interactive experiences since 2016.
