A curious new menu item is landing in East London tomorrow (May 21), and it’s sure to excite ice-cream fanatics and lovers of sweet treats. The Shoreditch breakfast sarnie slingers at Bangers have teamed up with Tano Gelato to turn breakfast staples into gelato. That’s right, folks, breakfast gelato is about to hit London.
Following years of cult success as one of London’s best breakfast sandwich purveyors, Bangers opened up a permanent shop in Shoreditch last year. Ever since, they’ve been serving up their famous smashed sausage sarnies and other morning staples such as smoothies, beans, and even Bloody Marys. Meanwhile, fellow East London-ers Tano Gelato have been blending Italian tradition and Argentine passion to mix up vibrant gelato flavours. And now they’re combining their powers to bring us an icy new way to start our day.
Breakfast gelato
The breakfast gelato flavours range from Vanilla and Allpress Flat White to the quirky Earl Grey and PB&J flavours. Regardless of whether you’re a tea or coffee drinker, you can start your day with your morning brew in gelato form. (They’ll even pour a shot of espresso over the vanilla ice cream for a delicious affogato.)
But what we’re most intrigued by is the Cumberland gelato. Bangers has taken the core ingredient from their sausage sarnies, and Tano has blended it up into a creamy frozen concoction. And while we’re unsure how sausage and gelato can go together, they’re proud of the flavour, stating “Don’t knock it until you’ve tried it”.
The only question is… do we drizzle ketchup on it?
To celebrate the launch of the gelato range, Bangers is giving away free scoops to brave ice-cream fans. Head on over to their Instagram to find out how you can score yourself a free scoop on the day of the gelato launch.
🕰️ Bangers will start serving breakfast gelato from May 21 at their Shoreditch restaurant.
