The Blue Note jazz club has been an a New York institution since 1981, and has locations across the world. It hasn’t yet, however, had a spot in the UK, but that’s all changing next month, with the London Blue Note opening up in Covent Garden.
Coinciding with what would be the 100th birthday of jazz pioneer, John Coltrane, the Blue Note Jazz club will be putting on music from September 23, 2026 over in the basement of St Martin’s Lane Hotel.
On the opening two nights (September 23-24), the first being the centenary of John Coltrane, Blue Note will be welcomed to the capital with performances from Grammy Award-winning pianist Robert Glasper. Across the first month, the venue will also host shows from some huge names, including Yussef Dayes, Jamie Cullum, Nik West, Erykah Badu, Hak Baker, and more.
At the space, these acts will take to the 250-capacity main room, which will host two shows a day and be open until midnight on Monday-Saturday (midnight on Sunday). A second room, named B-side, is also due to open later in the year, which will hold room for 100 jazz-lovers.

Acts in both room will often be more intimate affairs than these artists play, and the venue could also host surprise shows in the small space.
Speaking on the opening, Tsion Bensusan, co-owner of Blue Entertainment Group, said: “London has always been one of the world’s great music capitals, with an extraordinary jazz heritage and an incredibly diverse creative community. Bringing Blue Note to London is something we’ve envisioned for many years, and opening our doors here marks one of the most significant milestones in our company’s history.
“For more than four decades, Blue Note has been dedicated to creating intimate spaces where artists and audiences connect through unforgettable live performances. Our hope is that Blue Note London becomes more than a venue, it becomes a home for musicians, a gathering place for the community, and an integral part of London’s cultural landscape. We are immensely proud and honoured to bring the Blue Note legacy to this remarkable city.”
Blue Note Jazz Club opens in London on Wednesday, September 23, 2026. Tickets for shows announced so far go on general sale on Friday, August 14.
