Our city certainly isn’t particularly thin on the ground when it comes to fancy places to take a snooze. With gorgeous new establishments setting up shop in what seems like every corner of the capital; if you’re looking for a swanky bed to rest your weary head – London has got you covered like a cosy cashmere blanket. And as wonderful as that may be (written with the half-hearted conviction of a girl who has never so much as poked her head around the door of an ultra-fancy hotel), it makes it pretty darn difficult to know which of them are worthy of their price-tag. But that’s where the lovely lot over at Travel + Leisure come in pretty darn useful.
Each and every year, the trusty travel publication scour the globe in search of the world’s best new hotels. Spanning six different categories (best city hotels, splurge-worthy stays, U.S. resorts, affordable luxury, international flair, and on the water); 100 hotels that have opened their dreamy doors within the past year manage to earn themselves a comfy (and oh so coveted) place on the ‘It List’. And this year – two luxurious London locales made the cut.
The Chancery Rosewood, Mayfair

Picture-perfectly perched within the Grade II listed former U.S Embassy; the Chancery Rosewood can be found in Mayfair’s gorgeous Grosvenor Square. Having swung open its doors in September 2025, this suite-only hotel – and its 144 jaw-droppingly beautiful rooms – made its way onto Travel + Leisure’s list of ‘splurge-worthy stays‘. And when they say splurge, they really do mean it. A night at the Chancery Rosewood will set you back a rather gasp-inducing minimum of £1,300.
The Newman, Fitzrovia

Earning itself a place on Travel + Leisure’s ‘best city hotels’ list is The Newman in Fitzrovia. One of the very newest hotels on London’s block; this independently owned (and utterly stunning) boutique hotel opened back in February and boasts 81 rooms – each of which is filled with custom artwork and sumptuous furnishings. The ‘Art Deco-adjacent’ space is also home to Brasserie Angelica (a vibrant all-day eatery), the Gambit Bar (a subterranean speakeasy bar), and a Nordic-style spa (complete with everything you could possibly need to melt away the chaos of the capital). Stays at The Newman start from around £450 a night.
