BAO Borough will have a little trick up its sleeve.
I think we can all agree that BAO‘s delicious steamed buns are worth singing about (one need only look at the ever-present queues for evidence of that). Handily, you’ll be able to do just that when they open their new restaurant on the edge of Borough Market on May 9th. For this site, they’re bringing along the usual delicious food, but with the lovely addition of a secret karaoke room – so you’d better get warming up those vocal chords!
The karaoke room will be tucked away beneath the dining room, with room for up to 12 pals to belt out the classics. You can order party platters for sustenance, and the experience starts from the rather reasonable £5 per person, so your friends will be BAOing down to your karaoke skills in no time.
It’s not the only shiny new bit BAO have incorporated; the restaurant will also boast a takeaway hatch for those who don’t fancy the queue, and a menu of noodle dishes served only after 9:30pm. And you know we aren’t going to say no to late night noodz.
The rest of the menu will build on the offerings found at their Soho and Fitzrovia sites. Whilst the ever-popular bao buns (including that notorious Horlicks ice cream bao) will make the trip across the river, the restaurant will make liberal use of the grill to provide a range of new dishes hitherto unseen at BAO. We’re sure it’ll make a fine addition to the foodie paradise of Borough Market – plus, as Eater cannily observed, it might slash the queues for Padella too…
You’ll find BAO Borough at 13 Stoney Street, London Bridge, SE1 9AD (right next to Borough Market), from May 9th.
