Baba G’s: street food institution and Secret London favourite.
This city is filled with success stories of street food vendors parlaying their winning recipes into bricks and mortar restaurants. And we tend to follow them as much as we can, because frankly, it’s a really delicious adventure. The latest success story? Baba G’s, the home of London’s legendary Bhangra burgers, who have just opened up in Camden Market. We went to check them out on a trip to London Bridge recently (watch what happened below), and safe to say we’re very excited to pop along!
Of course, this could prove dangerous for our waistlines and wallets, as the new Baba G’s is just around the corner from Secret London HQ. Come lunchtime you’ll find us led, Pied Piper-like, by resident superfan Oscar to dive into the Crazy Lamb Jalfrezi Burger, served in a bun with onion bhaji, mango pulp, and mint cumin raita. Not that we’d be complaining about that, of course.
Other Indian food offerings include the Veggie Paneer Saag Burger, finished with a punchy tamarind sauce, along with Chicken Tikka Nuggets that are sure to be a crowdpleaser. Meanwhile, Baba G’s ever-popular Pachos – that’s poppadom nachos, to the uninformed – are making the journey to their new spot, and they’re adding some new small plates to bolster the existing offering.
Drinks will also be flavoured with spices prevalent in Indian cooking, so expect to see cardamom and chai pop up a few times. The cocktail menu is heavy on the Old Fashioneds and spiced rums, which is no bad thing to my mind. We’re just going to say it: when it comes to Indian burgers, Baba G’s are the OG’s.
Find Baba G’s at 726-727 North Yard, Camden Market, NW1 8AH.
