Now that the sun has actually graced us with its presence for more than a few consecutive hours this week; we hot-and-bothered Londoners are officially on the lookout for al-fresco spots to spend the sunny season. And I come bearing the perfect place to add to your must-visit list. Aqua Action is a humongous floating water park where you (and your family, friends, colleagues, and acquaintances) can go to splish, splash, slip, and slide around this summer. And the very best part? You can reach it on the London Underground.
Now, admittedly the exact Tube line on which this inflatable aqua park is perched isn’t the most desirable in the hot weather. But if ever there was a reason to traverse the breadth of the Central line in the heat, it’s this.

Aqua Action
Located on an idyllic east London lake, Aqua Action has swung open its doors for the summer season and will be serving up fun in the (sporadic) sun from now until September 27. The gigantic inflatable obstacle course spans a rather impressive 75 metres. And it’s the perfect action-packed activity for children over 6 years old and big (adult) kids alike. Visitors can ascend the rather hefty climbing tower, tackle the 2-metre high balance beam, be hurtled into the air on the blast bag, dive off the jumping platforms, or plunge down the drop slides. Sounds pretty darn fun, right?
Those who wish to partake in the floating fun must be able to swim 20-metres unaided as the aqua park itself is located away from the bank and must be swum to. For smaller splashers, the water park also offers a puddle park which is suitable for ages 1 to 8 (and no swimming is required).
Tickets cost £22 for a one hour session and wetsuits and buoyancy aids are included within the price. Private hire is also available – so I think we can all work out where I’ll be spending my next birthday.
Aqua Action is open on weekends during term time and every single day during the school holidays. You’ll find the water park in Fairlop Waters Country Park which is within walking distance from Fairlop station on the Central Line. Find out more and plan your visit here.
