Ahh, our beloved London Underground. We can’t live with it but we most certainly can’t live without it. And unfortunately the capital city is going to have to endure another taste of the latter as it has been announced that a series of 24-hour strikes are set to take place over the next few months.
London Underground drivers who are members of the RMT union are set to strike across various 24-hour periods over the next few months. The industrial action has arisen due to London Underground’s plans to compress the hours of a normal working week into four days for Tube drivers. The union has rejected these plans and has expressed concern about ‘fatigue, safety and work-life balance’.

Approximately 1800 union members are supposedly involved in the dispute and Eddie Dempsey (the RMT General Secretary) has said that there is ‘still time for London Underground to come up with a workable solution’.
What dates will the Tube strikes be taking place?
Strike action is set to take place on the London Underground on the following dates:
- March 24-25 (12pm Tuesday – 11:59am Wednesday)
- March 26-27 (12pm Thursday – 11:59am Friday)
- April 21-22 (12pm Tuesday – 11:59am Wednesday)
- April 23-24 (12pm Thursday – 11:59am Friday)
- May 19-20 (12pm Tuesday – 11:59am Wednesday)
- May 21-22 (12pm Thursday – 11:59am Friday)
The strikes will affect all Tube lines but TfL have said that they expect these strikes to have less of an impact across the network as a whole than the Tube strikes that took place in September 2025.
Londoners will need to use alternative transport methods on these days. The Elizabeth line, DLR, London Overground, buses and trams will all be running as usual on the strike days but TfL have warned that these services are likely to be extremely busy.
