While we might have had an unseasonably long summer this year, the cold has most definitely arrived in London. Which means it’s time to break out the big coat from the back of the closet. While you’re there, you might find some old coats that you don’t wear anymore – fortunately, London’s enormous annual city-wide coat drive has returned. Thanks to HandsOn London and its WrapUp London campaign, you can give your old coat a new life and help people in need this winter.
The coat drive has returned this month and runs from November 2-22. Londoners are encouraged to donate clean, reusable coats and jackets. These are then distributed to front-line charities that support causes such as homelessness, refugees, family centres, and foodbanks.
You can find donation points all around the city – in pubs, libraries, fire stations, and more. Youngs Pubs around London are accepting donations from November 9-21.

Commuter coat donations
WrapUp London is making it super easy for commuters to participate this year. If you’re rushing to and from the office and can hardly leave your desk for lunch, there’s still a chance to help out. WrapUp London will be doing convenient collections at the following Tube stations from November 3-5, between 7-11am:
- King’s Cross
- Liverpool Street
- London Bridge
- Moorgate
- Waterloo
Said Jon Meech, CEO of HandsOn London: “For 15 years, WrapUp London has shown what is possible when Londoners come together to do good. We are asking for the public’s support once again, to help ensure that the most vulnerable people in our city have warmth and dignity this winter.”
The WrapUp Coat Christmas Tree
Over in Northwest London, in the O2 Centre, a Coat Christmas Tree has popped up – providing a festive new look for the coat drive. Visitors can donate their pre-loved coats and jackets by hanging them on the tree.
The tree can be found on the second floor of the O2 Centre. Donations of all sizes are welcome, including children’s and baby’s coats, as well as adults’. They’re also welcoming hats, gloves, and scarves – ensuring those in need can really wrap up against the cold.

Ant Foran, Centre Director at O2 Centre, said: “We’re proud to bring a little warmth to those who need it the most this winter and support HandsOn London with their WrapUp Christmas coat appeal. The Coat Christmas Tree stands as a symbol of warmth, generosity, and the spirit of giving this season, and every donation will make a huge difference to those facing challenges during the winter months.”
🎄 The Coat Christmas Tree is near Waterstones, Level 2, O2 Centre, 255 Finchley Road, NW3 6LU
