Halloween is officially over, folks, which means that it’s now full steam ahead into the festive season. And it’s not just Santa Claus that’ll be coming to town this Christmas. A magically festive steam train will also be chugging into the city next month, ready to spread seasonal cheer by the carriage-load.
Right on cue, the Santa Steam Express is preparing to have its halls well-and-truly decked for the occasion. These yule-tide train rides come courtesy of Steam Dreams, and will be giving locomotive-loving Londoners the chance to hop aboard a 75 year-old steam train and embark on an enchanting 90-minute journey around the city.
The Santa Steam Express
This year’s festive train journeys will be taking place on board the 70000 Britannia and the 71000 Duke of Gloucester. Both of these legendary locomotives date back to the 1950s, and will be departing from (and returning to) London Victoria at various times on December 12 and 19. Passengers can climb aboard, find their seats inside one of the beautifully-decorated carriages, and enjoy the ride.

Santa and his loyal bunch of elves will be on hand to provide the fun-filled festive entertainment, with interactive storytelling and singing aplenty. The Santa Steam Express’s trusty travelling theatre will be back on board this year, elevating the experience and bringing the magic of the North Pole to life.
Every adult will have the chance to tuck into a mince pie and a hot drink, whilst every child will receive a gift, an activity pack, a snack, a drink, and magical memories to last a lifetime. And with three different classes to (choo choo) choose from, there’s sure to be something to suit everyone. Passengers can opt for coach class, club class, or plush private compartment that seats up to six – and prices start from £45 per person.
Spaces are pretty limited and these festive journeys tend to sell out fairy quickly, so grab your tickets whilst you still can and get ready to step chug into Christmas.
