There’s a new fancy food shop on the block, folks – and it can be found inside the former Galtymore Ballroom in Cricklewood. The north London locale has officially become the most recent recipient of a swanky Waitrose supermarket. And it’s the first ‘full-line’ store that the brand has opened in eight years.
The major new store has transformed the building that housed the iconic Irish dance hall from the 1950s until well into the noughties. Just a stone’s throw from Cricklewood station, the conveniently-located 18,000 square-feet space has been jam-packed with all manner of grocery items and household essentials, ready to fill the shopping bags of north Londoners.
Being a ‘full-line’ store, customers can expect to find fresh meat, fish, sushi and cheese counters alongside a dedicated bakery, an extensive wine offering, and a whole lot more. This new opening swung open its doors bright and early this morning (October 22), and comes as part of a wider £1 billion investment plan that’ll see a number of new Watirose stores popping up across the country.
