A much-loved Chinatown restaurant has announced it will close later this month after nearly two decades in Soho.
Cafe TPT, at 21 Wardour Street, will shut its doors for the final time on October 27. The restaurant has not given a reason for the closure.
In a message posted on Instagram, the team said it had been “an absolute privilege” to welcome customers over the years, adding that many had become “more than just customers”.
“You have shared your stories, celebrations, milestones, laughter and everyday moments with us,” the post said. Cafe TPT added that it had been about more than food: “the people – the familiar faces, the friendships, the conversations and the memories created around our tables”.
A Chinatown favourite in London will close later this month

Cafe TPT became known for its broad menu of Cantonese-style café dishes and Chinese street-food classics. Its offerings included roast duck, baked pork chop rice and beef flank curry, alongside Malaysian favourites such as curry laksa.
The restaurant also served dishes from across China, including Sichuan-inspired options, as well as familiar UK-Chinese favourites such as sweet and sour chicken. Its menu reflected the varied food traditions that have made Chinatown a destination for casual meals and late-night dining.
News of the closure prompted an outpouring of tributes from customers online. One diner described it as “truly a massive loss to the London dining scene”.
Another thanked the restaurant for being a comforting place during their student years, writing: “Thanks for saving my life many many times as a student. My go to whenever I felt homesick, you’ll be missed.”
The restaurant thanked customers for their support and loyalty, saying the memories and connections made at Cafe TPT would remain a cherished part of its story.
