Knightsbridge is set to glow again this winter as more than 12,000 low-energy LED bulbs return to Brompton Road and the surrounding streets, with the lights officially switching on from early November.
The scheme, now in its second year after debuting in 2025, blends luxury, craft and sustainability while nodding to the area’s equestrian heritage and nearby Household Cavalry.
A festive centrepiece with an equestrian touch
The star of the show is a 14-metre animated cross-street banner spanning Brompton Road between 37 Brompton Road and the iconic Scotch House, owned by Criterion Capital. The banner features subtly animated elements, with horses appearing to gallop towards viewers amid wintry motifs, creating a moving focal point above the street.
Wall-mounted installations also illuminate Brompton Road and Hans Crescent, the pedestrian route linking Harrods with cafés, restaurants and Knightsbridge Underground Station, ensuring the glow extends beyond the main banner. The overall design draws on Knightsbridge’s grand architecture and distinctive character, weaving equestrian details throughout as a nod to the area’s history and the Hyde Park Barracks, home to the Household Cavalry.
As well as looking the part, the display is built with sustainability in mind. Crafted from aluminium and bio-print recycled plastic, the installation incorporates more than 3,000 recycled plastic bottles and uses low-energy LED bulbs to reduce power consumption. The approach aligns with wider efforts across central London estates to meet strict sustainability targets while maintaining a high-end festive aesthetic.
Knightsbridge Christmas lights 2026: dates and switch-on time
The lights are scheduled to be on each evening from November 10, with major London festive illuminations generally switching on in the first two weeks of the month. For Knightsbridge specifically, previous switch-on events have taken place in mid-November, with the display then running through the festive period.
To experience the display, head to Brompton Road around Harrods and walk down Hans Crescent towards Knightsbridge station, looking up for the animated banner between 37 Brompton Road and Scotch House. The nearest Tube is Knightsbridge, with South Kensington also within walking distance.
