Uma praia com Bandeira Azul devido à excelente qualidade da água e uma infinidade de instalações, é um local maravilhoso para piqueniques que oferece vistas panorâmicas de Portsmouth e da Ilha de Wight.
Há rumores de que foi o primeiro local a ser invadido pelos saxões, e as dunas de areia próximas de East Head são um local de interesse científico específico, se quiser colocar o seu chapéu de explorador. 3. Praia de Abbotscliffe, Kent
Outra das melhores praias escondidas perto de Londres, Abbotscliffe é uma praia de cascalho remota, situada entre Dover e Folkestone, que permanece bastante fora do radar. 4. Dungeness, Kent
Também em Kent e a poucos passos de Camber Sands, encontrará este lugar remoto, que se destaca entre as nossas praias perto de Londres pela sua beleza. A maior extensão de cascalho em toda a Europa, Dungeness não é exatamente o tipo de praia de fatos de banho e gelados.
A atração aqui é do tipo sombrio e impressionante, uma vez que a vista está repleta de cabanas de pescadores desalinhadas, uma central nuclear e um conjunto de torres de betão utilizadas para ouvir a chegada de aviões nos anos 1930. Elegantemente sinistro. Há uma variedade incrível de vida selvagem aqui – incluindo algumas que não se encontram em nenhum outro lugar na Grã-Bretanha – e também pode visitar a Prospect House, que foi propriedade do aclamado artista e realizador Derek Jarman até à sua morte em 1994.

O seu tamanho significa que esta praia nunca fica lotada – mesmo durante os meses de verão – e se alguma vez se fartar de descansar na areia, pode sempre passear pela pitoresca aldeia de Winterton-on-Sea e comprar peixe e batatas fritas.
Sugestão: dirija-se para norte, para Horsey Gap, e é provável que se depare com centenas e centenas de focas cinzentas, que aqui se reproduzem todos os Invernos. É uma visão incrível vê-las do topo das dunas e, se estiver aqui durante os meses de verão, pode vê-las a subir e a descer nas águas do Mar do Norte, mesmo ao largo.
