We’ve all done it. We take pictures of beautiful things – that we certainly can’t afford – purely for the Instagram ‘aesthetic’.
Townhouses in Chelsea? Check. Pretty latte art? Check. Florists with insanely beautiful displays? Check mate. We’ve put together an ode to the daddy of all clichéd Instagram posts. Because, as our social media obsessions make us widely unpopular with baby-boomers, we millennials might as well embrace how basic we really are. Just stop and snap the roses.
This blogger favourite has certainly graced a fair few Instagram grids over the years. Whether it’s the characteristic bright blue tiles of the ‘Turquoise Island’ flagship store in Notting Hill, the sophisticated setup of the Pimlico branch, or the Liberty of London display (which we’d wager you’ve seen on your feed on at least one occasion), Wild At Heart offers plenty of photo ops.
While we love their attractive exteriors, a medium sized floral arrangement from this place will set you back at least £100 (with deluxe bouquets coming in at close to £200), so we doubt we’ll be picking up a bunch ourselves anytime soon. Luckily, photographs are free and don’t wilt after a week or so. It’ll have to do for now!
Another stunning luxury florist that we definitely, definitely can’t afford. One look at their shop interior and you’ll be debating whether a week eating beans on toast and walking to work might be worth it, in exchange for a bunch of their blooms. A medium bouquet from their Mayfair store costs an eye-watering £150, so we recommend just taking a photo and running away, before you make a very expensive decision.
Scarlet & Violet has a whole bunch of character. Their shabby-chic styled shop in North London is the perfect place to get some interior inspo. Their floral arrangements are always changing, with fresh seasonal flowers coming in every day, so it’s well worth walking past to have a quick gawp.
The even better news is, this florist is our first ‘actually affordable for real human people’ option, because bouquets start at £20, with a medium bunch of bespoke blooms coming in at around £50. Not just for Instagram, people!
Dawson Flowers in Holborn is home to an incredible array of arrangements, organised according to a range of seasonal colour palettes. A shot of this place could be the perfect addition to your colour conscious Instagram page. Because that’s a thing now. Apparently.
They’re a little more affordable than most, offering a standard sized bouquet at around £50. So you might even be able to buy a few blooms after you’ve spent a bit of time appreciating their designer displays.
This charming little number offers ‘unique, sometimes unruly, natural flowers’ for those of you who prefer the natural look – it’s hard not to fall in love with its bohemian vibe. The shop is (rather unsurprisingly) located in stylish Shoreditch.
Another much less painfully priced option, this gorgeous bunch for example will set you back £50. But we won’t judge you if you just want to stand on the pavement on the other side of the road and simply take a few pictures of the white brick facade. It’s all in the name of aesthetics, after all.
Quirky East London florist Grace & Thorn are more than mere flower arrangers. They’re focusing on the unsung heroes of the floral arrangement world: the foliage. Along with all the usual floral trimmings, they host a snazzy weekly terrarium workshop that ‘often sells out months in advance’. Just think of the photographic potential! Maybe not the best option for the cash-strapped Londoner though, because medium bouquets are around £70 and their terrarium workshop costs £65.
