I used to roll my eyes when generations my senior used to harp on about the ‘good old days’, but now, I totally get it. We Millenials remember the good old days, too, but for us, we describe them as the days when Freddos were 10p. And boy, has it been a while.
They’ve been a national barometer for inflation ever since I was old enough to know what inflation was, and thanks to the financial crisis (and following recession) back in 2007/8, Freddo prices have been hit hard over the years – never to return again to their former 10p glory. Until now…
Announcing the news just today, Sainsbury’s will be selling the nostalgic Cadbury’s treat for just 10p between 17th-23rd April, and it’s a dream come true for 90s babies. For context, Freddos currently retail for 25p, however, in recent years, it’s jumped to as high as 50p in some shops.
Running the offer in their supermarkets nationwide (excluding Sainsbury’s Local stores), fans of the mini chocolate bar (18g, to be precise) can enjoy the treat for less for a limited time, with only one catch: you need to have a Nectar card to receive the discount.
Sainsbury’s has also put a limit on how many you can purchase, too, with the 10p Freddos capped at 30 per person. That’s more than enough for me.
