Among London’s most adored and prized blooms are the likes of bluebells, lavender, cherry blossoms, and wisteria. Bluebells make sense, as one of the first flowers to rear their heads to mark the end of winter. And lavender fields are truly striking – not to mention delightfully fragrant! But cherry blossoms and wisteria possess another charm to them – their comparatively short length of bloom. It’s their fleeting nature that makes them such a prized flower to spot.
As such, we’re always on the lookout for some of the city’s best places to spot them, particularly the climbing purple wisteria flowers. You’ll find them gracing many a stunning house in London’s more affluent areas.
But we’ve particularly fallen in love with one West London wisteria display, tucked away in a secretive garden. Within Hillingdon’s Eastcote House Gardens, a glorious wisteria tunnel awaits. But you’ll have to act fast to find it, because the blooms have reached their full potential – and they won’t be around for much longer!
Where to find the wisteria tunnel
To find the tunnel, head on over to Hillingdon and then make your way to the lesser-known Eastcote House Gardens. The award-winning green space is home to “Tudor dovecote, stables and walled garden, all of which are Grade II listed”. That’s right, it’s not just a journey to find wisteria, it’s a journey into London’s history!
The garden is full of gorgeous floral displays to check out, but it’s the wisteria we’re after! Within the area’s walled garden is where you’ll find the tunnel.
Comprised of archways along one of the paths, the wisterias band together to make a charming tunnel. Together, the blooms flank the sun-dappled pathway with a violently violet display. And I, for one, simply adore it.
