Picture this scene: you’ve just seen Doja Cat wrap up a headline set at Wireless Festival, and you’ve still got plenty of time to watch England play Spain in the Euros final?
That’s what’s happening this weekend, with Wireless confirming that their Sunday event will shut up shop at 7pm in order to allow fans to travel home to watch the match. Friday and Saturday’s headliners of Nicki Minaj and 21 Savage will finish up at 10:20pm and 10:15pm, respectively. Doja Cat was due to end at the 9:30pm curfew on Sunday, but the times have been pushed forward to allow the keen football fans to fit both in.
Taking to their socials, they confirmed that the festival would still go ahead as planned on Sunday (July 14), but that Doja Cat’s festival set would mark the end. The festival will then close, and not screen the match.
Revised set times for Wireless’s Sunday event in Finsbury Park are now available, though Tyla and Digga D will now no longer perform on the Sunday. with Flo Milli and Veeze won’t be playing on the Friday of the festival (July 12), and replacement acts are due to be announced shortly. The festival has also confirmed that special guests are still in the works.
England vs Spain kicks off at 8pm on Sunday, and marks the final of the tournament after Ollie Watkins’ dramatic late goal secured a 2-1 victory over The Netherlands following Harry Kane’s earlier penalty cancelling out Xavi Simons’ opener. Spain also won their semi-final 2-1, coming from behind with two stunning goals from Dani Olmo and 16-year-old sensation Lamine Yamal.
