It may have only been a matter of moments since Jannik Sinner successfully defended his title, and him and Linda Noskova left Centre Court victorious. But as the dust begins to setting on the 2026 Wimbledon Championships, many minds are already hurtling towards the first serve of 2027.
As Wimbledon is one of the world’s only major sporting events that offers spectators the chance to snap up tickets on the day, hundreds of thousands of people descend upon the south-west London spot each year – camping chairs and picnic blankets in tow – ready to join ‘The Queue‘. And whilst there are very few arts we Brits have mastered quite so finely as queuing (and the queue at Wimbledon is an undeniably iconic one), if you’d prefer to bypass the plethora of people waiting outside, and smugly walk straight in instead, here’s how you have the best chance of doing so.
The Wimbledon Public Ballot
The oh-so elusive Wimbledon Public Ballot allows mere mortals (like you and I) to get their hands on Centre Court, Court One, and Court Two tickets. As Wimbledon tickets continue to be in outrageously high demand, a public ballot remains the fairest way to dish out the sought-after spots. So, here’s how it works.

The Wimbledon Public Ballot usually opens in September and remains open to enter for a couple of weeks – giving you plenty of time to throw your hat in the ring. Successful applicants are then usually allocated tickets in January or February and given a strict deadline to accept and pay for these tickets. You can apply for up to two tickets per household, and the ballot is completely random and so entrants cannot request specific dates, courts, or seats.
In order to enter the Wimbledon Public Ballot, you must open a myWimbledon account. You can create an account here – and we’d highly recommend opting in to receiving communications so you can stay up to date with all things ballot-related.
When is Wimbledon 2027?
The 2027 Wimbledon Championships is taking place from June 28 until July 11 – with the qualifying rounds taking place the week before.
