There’s something magical and fairy-tale-like about winter during the holidays. All the movies show the holidays being celebrated with snow on the ground: kids running outside to fling snowballs at each other and make snow angels. Could the UK be in for their own version of that movie-screen White Christmas celebration?
Bookies at Coral have slashes the odds for the possibility of snow at Christmas, so sure are they that a White Christmas is on the way. John Hill, a spokesman for Coral, said: “The odds say it will be all white on the big day. Big chills are coming early this year.”
The Met Office’s forecast for the next week sees temperatures cooling after a few days of unseasonably warm weather. This will also be accompanied by considerable periods of rain across the UK. A yellow weather warning for rain and wind is in place today and tomorrow in western and northern parts of the country.
With the weather cooling down as we head deeper into Autumn, and in turn Winter, a white Christmas could be on the horizon for the UK. Will it make it to London, too? We’ll just have to wait and see.
