So, the clocks went forward early this morning, and it’s safe to say we were all counting down the days until we finally got that oh-so-precious extra hour of daylight. But the question is, what’s the best way to make use of it now it’s here? To celebrate the arrival of longer days and (hopefully!) warmer weather, we’ve partnered with Corona to bring you inspo on some great ways to make the most of your evenings in London this spring.
1. Sip an ice cold Corona with a wedge of lime in a sunny beer garden
It’s (quite literally) like clockwork. Spring arrives, and suddenly there is not a pub garden in sight that isn’t bustling with people, all eager to sit outdoors and sip something delicious, fizzy and refreshing. And we can’t think of anything that feels more appropriate for a sunny evening than an ice cold Corona with a fresh wedge of lime.
2. Enjoy a scenic post-work cycle
London looks especially pretty in the spring. And what better way to take it all in than a bike ride along one of London’s lovely cycle routes? Whether you’ve got your own bike or you’re hopping on a Santander cycle, there are so many pretty places to explore. For some waterside tranquillity, you could head along the River Lea on East London’s canal path, try Regent’s Canal that takes you from Little Venice to Limehouse, or even the Southbank.
3. Take a refreshing outdoor dip
For those of you that are made of stern enough stuff to brave outdoor swimming in winter, hats off. But some of us simply have to wait until it’s warmer, and when it is, London is full of lovely lidos for taking a relaxing evening dip. Some of our favourites are Brockwell, London Fields, and Serpentine – or try the Hampstead ponds for something that feels a little wilder.
4. Turn dinner time into an evening picnic
At this time of year, absolutely every opportunity to dine outdoors must be taken. Whether it’s eating dinner in your garden, or heading to your local park with a blanket, a hamper and a cool box stocked with frosty coronas, there’s no better way to toast to the start of a wonderful London spring.
5. Walk to see the beautiful blossoms
In case you didn’t already know, London has been crowned Europe’s most picturesque spring destination. And I think we can all agree, the title would not be ours, were it not for the picture-perfect cherry blossom that adorns the streets of London with the prettiest shade of pink when the weather gets warmer. Here are some of the best places in the city to go and spot some on your next evening stroll.
6. Get the most out of golden hour
If we can give you one piece of advice this spring, it’s to go the extra mile for that golden hour moment. It doesn’t get much better than taking in a gorgeous view of London when it’s all a-glow. Some great spots for this excellent spring activity are the Sky Garden, Franks Cafe, and Horizon 22. And keep your eyes peeled when you’re out and about in the city for this stunning sunset, inspired by the lime wedge in the ultimate sundowner – a cold, refreshing Corona!
