For the very first time ever, some fortunate folk are soon being given the unique opportunity to tuck into a delicious dinner inside Westminster Abbey at night. The legendary London landmark will be swinging open its (rather fancy) doors in June for a one night only event – and here’s how you could be one of the lucky Londoners that manages to snap up a ticket.
The extra special event in question comes courtesy of Balfour Winery, who have partnered with the historic hotspot to celebrate English Wine Week. Guests will be invited to step inside the abbey’s original 14th-century undercroft, where they’ll find the Cellarium Cafe & Terrace. This gorgeously atmospheric space was once used as a storehouse by Benedictine monks. It’s now used by tired tourists as an on-site spot to refuel and rehydrate after a wander around Westminster Abbey. But on June 22, the ancient underground eatery will open to the public after hours for its first ever evening dining event.

Following a warm welcome at the drinks reception, visitors will be invited to take a seat and prepare to be guided through a carefully-curated 3-course dinner. Guests can sip, swirl, and savour a selection of wines; gaining insight into the producers and pairings as they do so. And a menu full of scrumptiously seasonal ingredients and contemporary British flavours will be served up alongside the wines to perfectly compliment them.
The evening will be set against the breathtaking backdrop of one of Britain’s most iconic UNESCO World Heritage Sites. So, whether you’re a Cabernet-connoisseur or a Reisling-rookie, it’s sure to be an absoltuely wine-derful event that you’re most definitely not going to want to miss it.
The dinner at Westminster Abbey will be taking place on June 22 from 6.30pm to 10pm. Tickets are available now and you can get your hands on one here.
