We’re not crying, you’re crying.
Home to Shoreditch’s best beer garden, one of London’s best quiz nights and general good times, The Water Poet has served us some bloody good pints and some ruddy excellent memories in its time.
But, after 20 years, The Water Poet is closing its doors for the last time on Friday March 29, due to “redevelopment in the area.” They apparently have plans to return in the future, with the same name and vibes (and garden? pls? 🤞), but for now, it’s time to say a very tearful goodbye.
They’re asking people to send in their favourite memories and photos of the good times they’ve had at the Poet, and they’ll be adding a page to their website to display the best of the bunch. A few lucky contributors will win a £50 bar tab at The Water Poet’s sister pub, The Crown And Shuttle (Shoreditch’s second favourite pub). You can share your pictures with the team via Twitter.
Let’s not let another one bite the dust! Camden’s Hawley Arms is at risk of closing too, but we can save it!
