After an absolutely scorching hot summer, the recent weather change has been welcomed by many, in fact, it’s even got many of us wondering if we’ll have a white Christmas this year. But before we start celebrating the festive season, we cannot skip over spooky season.
There’s nothing like an autumnal walk in London, and for those who want to get into the Halloween spirit, why not combine the two with a spooky walk? Well, thanks to the outdoor experts at GO Outdoors, they’ve revealed the spookiest walks in the UK, and one in London made the top 10.
The Hampton Court Palace Thames Path
Appearing second on the list, just behind Conwy Castle in Wales, is the Thames Path by Hampton Court Palace. Each walk was given a score out of 10 and this particular walk earned a spooktacular score of 9.2.
The Thames Path is located in East Molesey and leads visitors past the historic royal palace, most famously the home of King Henry VIII and his six wives. The walk is around 12km.
So what makes this walk so scary, I hear you ask? Well, apparently those aforementioned wives, in particular Catherine Howard and Jane Seymour, are said to haunt the palace, so you may bump into one of their ghosts on your stomp around the palace.
As well as that, the path is close to 13 cemeteries, which helps give the path a little extra eeriness. Conway castle only pipped this route to the top spot because of its legends of a monk and former prisoners that haunt the area.

Whether it’s ancient woodlands or historic battlefields, make sure to be respectful and leave no trace.”
