False alarm folks! A planned strike from ASLEF for November 7 and 12 has been cancelled. This comes in the wake of RMT also cancelling planned Tube strikes last week. As a result, there is now no strike action planned for November, and there should be no disruption to your journeys.
In an announcement on Twitter, Finn Brennan, ASLEF District Organiser wrote:
“Following on fresh talks and an improved offer, ASLEF has agreed to suspend planned industrial action on London Underground.
“Details of the offer will be discussed with our reps at a meeting on Thursday.
“We are pleased that this progress has been made and strike action averted at this time.”
When were they planning on striking?
Last month, ASLEF stated that there would be strikes across the London Underground on both November 7 and November 12. ASLEF has 2,000 members, and both train operators and managerial employees were due to participate in the strike action, with instructors and those in engineering also due to strike on different days in November.
This strike has since been cancelled.
As well as the ASLEF strike, RMT members were originally going to be engaging in walkouts across different days between November 1 and November 8. There was also an expected overtime ban for different sets of workers through the month.
This strike action was then suspended thanks to a breakthrough in discussions.
So will there be any issues travelling?
The TfL website states “There are no strikes planned on other TfL services during this period”. Despite the last-minute cancellation of the strikes, there should be no impact on your journey. According to TfL:
“London Underground services will now operate as normal on those days.”
Are there any more strikes set to take place?
There are currently no other strikes pencilled in across the London Underground. Watch this space for any further updates on the announced strikes and any upcoming action.
