Time to enjoy the most whimsical afternoon tea out there. You’ll have seen by now that The World Of Tim Burton has been reeling in the crowds at the Design Museum – so much so, in fact, that it’s their most visited exhibition ever.
Now, you can continue the Tim Burton fun in the same space by enjoying a Tim Burton-themed afternoon tea at the Design Kitchen with items centred around the movies from the weird and wonderful world the director creates.
Tim Burton Afternoon Tea
Once you’ve been bowled over by the marvels of the Tim Burton exhibition, there’s every chance you’ll be tempted to extend the magical fun that you’ve enjoyed (and a guarantee that you’ll be at least a little peckish). A swift amble over to the Design Museum kitchen will lead you back into the wanderlust of his movies, with plenty of themed items and sweet treats for you to dig your teeth into.
Creations include the Fleet Street barber shop pole that nods to Tim Burton’s Sweeny Todd musical and is made up of a salted caramel cookie sandwich; the inventor, which is pistachio macaron; a recently deceased tart, which refers to those waiting for their fate to be decided in Beetlejuice, and is a dark chocolate tart with crunchy chocolate pearls; and an undead love, a blueberry and almond polenta cake.
And of course, since this is an afternoon tea after all, you can also tuck into the fruit scones with clotted cream and strawberry jam, plus a lovely selection of savoury bites. Choose your hot drink and you’re all set – and you can even upgrade to a sparkling option to get your fill of bubbles with afternoon tea.
If you still haven’t visited the Tim Burton exhibition, there’s still time to do so and it has recently been extended to the end of May.
Find the Tim Burton-themed afternoon tea at The Design Kitchen, which is located in the Design Museum, 224 Kensington High Street, W8 6AG (nearest station is High Street Kensington). It’s available all day and booking in advance is recommended.
