October is about to get considerably louder at Thorpe Park.
The Surrey theme park, home to the UK’s tallest and fastest rollercoaster, is marking 25 years of its Fright Nights Halloween takeover with a brand-new scare maze that removes one small comfort from the equation: light.
Called Tenement, the new experience sends guests into a darkened senior-living complex where the power has failed, the residents have vanished, and one shared handheld torch is slowly running out of life.

Thorpe Park
It is Thorpe Park’s first fully immersive, pitch-black scare maze, arriving as Fright Nights returns on selected dates from 2 October to 1 November 2026.
Of course that’s only just the start of the park’s wide-ranging Halloween programming already announced. Here’s everything to know about Thorpe Park’s biggest Halloween season yet.
Tenement is Thorpe Park’s darkest maze yet
The premise begins like a straightforward emergency call.
Three nights ago, the lights went out at Nova Lux Senior Living. Nobody has been seen since. As emergency electricians, guests are sent inside to restore the power, only to discover that Tenement is no ordinary residential building.
Corridors shift. Doors refuse to lead where they should. Whispers travel through the darkness. And beneath the building, something much older than the Tenement itself may have been waiting patiently for the lights to go out.
The maze’s central trick is deliberately simple and wonderfully cruel. Your group shares a handheld light, but it fades as you move deeper into the building. Every flicker reveals a new corner, a new face, or a shape your brain may decide it would rather not identify.
“When the light dies, you’ll finally understand why nobody came back,” the park playfully warns on its website.
It’s Thorpe Park’s first fully immersive pitch-black maze, so expect it to be one of the scarier walkthroughs you’ll experience this spooky season!
The 25th-anniversary Fright Nights line-up
Tenement is the newcomer, but it’s not arriving alone!
Thorpe Park is bringing back some of its most recognisable Fright Nights nightmares, then giving the wider park a 25 Years of Fear overhaul.
The returning scare-maze line-up includes:
- Survival Games: Guests become test subjects in a bio-engineered experiment run by the sinister chemical Harmony. The maze is recommended for ages 15+.
- Trailers: A cinema-themed scare maze where classic horror nightmares come to life inside the fictional Sunset Cinema.
- DeadBeat: A sinister two-minutes-to-midnight nightclub where music, dance, and darkness are very much not designed to soothe the soul.
- Stitches: Enter the Toymaker’s twisted workshop, where new creations are waiting to make you part of the collection. The maze is filled with unsettling toys that are very much not the playthings you remember.
The park is also spreading the scares beyond the mazes with themed zones and roaming performances:
- The Crows: Mawkyn Meadow has been abandoned, and a twisted ritual has taken root.
- Lucifer’s Lair: A descent into the Underworld, with devilish encounters and the ever-present possibility that the Lord of Darkness may find you first.
- Creature Campus: Reunion Reckoning: The Supernatural Schoolkids return to Creature Campus 25 years after their first arrival, with old rivalries reignited.
- Purgatory Town: Big Easy Boulevard becomes a Voodoo-soaked street party after dark.
- Rebel Ball: A Fanta-sponsored party hub with music, dancing, fire performances, and the park’s own Fanta Wolf DJ.

Ride Britain’s tallest coaster after dark
Thorpe Park’s Fright Nights seasonal events are noteworthy in its own right, but an even more unique opportunity rises too with the park’s beloved Hyperia ride.
The golden rollercoaster stands 236 feet tall, reaches 81 mph, and holds the title of the UK’s tallest and fastest coaster.
At Fright Nights, it will operate after dark alongside other heavy hitters including THE SWARM, SAW-The Ride, Stealth, Nemesis Inferno, and Colossus.
Then there is SAW-The Ride, promoted as the world’s first horror-movie-themed rollercoaster.
By day, its twisted, industrial world already has a distinctly unpleasant energy. At night, the combination of darkness, psychological-horror styling, inversions, and sudden drops makes it feel like a scene you should perhaps have declined to enter.
For a less walk-through-the-darkness kind of fright, The Conjuring 4D Experience also returns to Sunset Cinema. The hair-raising attraction uses 3D projection and special effects to put guests inside the Warrens’ most notorious paranormal case, based on the haunting that inspired The Conjuring.
