What do you get when you cross a best-selling novel with an award-winning playwright? A brilliant new British musical based on Audrey Niffenegger’s The Time Traveller’s Wife, that’s what.
Adapted for the stage by Lauren Gunderson, The Time Traveller’s Wife is hitting the London stage this October. With original songs from Grammy Award winners Joss Stone and Eurythmics’ Dave Stewart, and the producers of Back to the Future: The Musical and Ghost on the credits, too, this play surely only has success in its future.
Clare is a talented sculptor and Henry is, you guessed it, a time traveller. It’s a classic tale of girl meets boy, but the timeline is somewhat skew-whiff. Separated by time but united by love, Henry is always trying to return to Clare. This is a story of how they must fight against all odds in order to find each other.
With David Hunter (Once and Kinky Boots) and Joanna Woodward (Pretty Woman) in the leading roles, and a joyous yet heartbreaking score created by star-studded musicians, The Time Traveller’s Wife is nothing if not a celebration of love in all its weird and wonderfulness.
The Time Traveller’s Wife will open at London’s Apollo Theatre on October 7 and you can get your tickets via the production’s website.
