Find someone a pint under a fiver in London and you’ll forever be known as a friend. They’ve become scarcities these days, and on an evening out in Soho, you’ll often be shelling out more than £7 for your glasses. This week, though, punters are invited for a celebratory evening at a much-loved Central London boozer, which is marking its 25th birthday in the most suitable of styles: slashing the cost of a pint to £2.50.
Paying tribute to the day the doors opened to the public in 1999, the pub will be slinging cheap pints for a day on (a very thirsty) Thursday, November 28. The pub will also be honouring their landlady Sally Graham, who has run the place since it opened, by renaming the spot The Lady Shaston for the evening.
Talking of which, the pub will be serving up a limited edition beer titled ‘The Lady Shaston Ale’, which is the beverage selected for the celebratory deal – and, according to their website, you’ll be able to pick these up (‘while supplies last’) for £2.50. If you miss out, you can pick up another beer and stay for the celebrations anyway in what’s sure to be a lively evening toasting to Sally Graham and to 25 years of The Shaston Arms.
Speaking on the news, Graham said: “I am immensely proud of what I have achieved at the Shaston. The DNA of the pub is so special and the fact that we have created a real haven for locals and visitors alike is not something I take for granted. Her (the pub’s) wooden floors, classic pub atmosphere, and with our nostalgic soundtrack, the vibe at The Shaston is second to none. It’s therefore only fitting that we celebrate our anniversary in true Shaston style.”
Pints of The Lady Shaston Ale at the Shaston Arms will be £2.50 until stocks last in the name of their 25th birthday on November 28. You can find it at 4-6 Ganton Street, Carnaby, W1F 7QN. Find out more about the celebrations here.
