Here at Secret London, well… the clue’s in the name, really – we love nothing more than scouring the city to scope out the most surreptitious spots for you to add to you ever-lengthening list of ‘I know a little place’ places. And look, we don’t want to blow our own trumpet, or anything. But we’ve done it again, folks.
Perched on top of a popular pub in the heart of Soho is a glass-clinkingly gorgeous wine bar, The Mulwray. From the same talented team that are behind the legendary London likes of The Palomar, The Barbary, and Evelyn’s Table; this irresistibly intimate spot provides the perfect setting to sip a glass (or three) of delicious wine, and feel the stress of city life melting away from you as you do so.

The Mulwray
You’ll find the Mulwray nestled above The Blue Posts pub on the edge of Chinatown. The 18th-century boozer is full of secrets, actually. Because as well as concealing the cosiest wine bar in town upstairs; downstairs is where you’ll find the aforementioned Evelyn’s Table – a 12-seater dining spot that offers an atmosphere as delicious as its intricate tasting menus.
The Mulwray is focused on introducing Londoners to more niche and interesting varieties of vino. Their weekly-changing wine list reflects the seasons, and features a whole host of fine and natural wines from across the globe. The menu comes courtesy of general manager, Emma Underwood, and is split into sections including cool-climate whites, silky reds, and – for the more adventurous among us – some wild card options.
The Mulwray prides itself on sourcing its wine from sustainable growers that use bio-dynamic practises. This means that a lot of the wine in The Mulwray’s fully-stocked cabinet is of a more contemporary ilk. But they do also serve up a selection of firm old-world favourites, so that the palate of even the fussiest of wine-drinkers is catered for.

The Mulwray has recently undergone a rather mighty makeover. The interior has been splashed with soft peachy, terracotta tones, making for a space that genuinely feels like its wrapping you in a warm hug. Alongside the glow-up, the refurbishment also saw a concise and confident cocktail menu introduced to the bar. So, no matter your drink of choice; you can sip, swirl and savour it at The Mulwray.
