The food court renaissance continues with The Market.
Ok, so the name is possibly the least imaginative one possible, but good things are all set to happen at The Market. Opening in the City of London early in 2020, this 20,000-square-foot food hub is set to immediately become one of the city’s biggest food markets – so let’s take a delicious dive into the project, shall we?

The Market is set to be housed in 22 Bishopsgate, which will be the second-tallest London skyscraper upon opening later this year – behind The Shard, but ahead of everyone else if the metric is “most climbing walls in a skyscraper“. Sadly you won’t be getting city views, as the food court will settle in on the second floor, open to the public during evenings and weekends.
There’s no word as of yet on the restaurants and traders who’ll be filling The Market, but Rhubarb (who run Vivi at Centre Point, amongst others) and Young British Foodies are in charge of sourcing mouthwatering talent. “Street-food style kiosks and pop-ups” are the order of the date, with food offerings set to rotate periodically. A wine bar, events space, and terrace complete the space, which will be able to accommodate 450 hungry City slickers.
Expect it to be quite popular, especially since 22 Bishopsgate will also feature the highest free public viewing gallery in the capital soon enough. Happily, The Market isn’t the only foodie development slated for the area next year: with any luck, giant Italian food hall Eataly will also be opening in the near future. Tasty news indeed!
