The Maccabees have enjoyed quite the comeback in the past year. After not playing a show since the summer of 2017, they announced their grand return to music last year. They played several triumphant shows, from a big old Glastonbury festival slot to an intimate show at the Dome in Tufnell Park to a giant headlining gig at All Points East festival.
It seems they’ve taken a liking to the great outdoors too, since they’ve just gone ahead and announced another massive London show, this time taking place at Alexandra Palace Park on Thursday, July 9 2026. It comes alongside a full set of UK dates next summer, all of which will be open-air shows, with concerts also taking palce in Cornwall, Bristol, Brighton, and Leeds.
The London show comes just over nine years to the day since The Maccabees played a trio of indoor gigs at Ally Pally’s Great Hall to mark the end of their farewell tour in 2017. Now, their hiatus is over, and they’ll move outdoors to (hopefully) play in the summer sun.
With announcement season in full flow, The Maccabees are the latest name to be confirmed for the summer season at Alexandra Palace Park. They’ll join fellow headliners Richard Ashcroft, The Streets, and Wet Leg, who are all booked to play at the space next year.
Speaking on the shows, guitarist Felix White said: “The year we’ve just had was so special to all of us, and so unexpected, that it has put some momentum in everyone collectively …. and who wouldn’t want to do all that again.”
