Grab your high-vis and your hairnet, Londoners, because it’s time to head to the Battersea warehouse that allows us mere mortals to get our hands on some of the finest produce in the capital city. Produce that is usually only available to the very fanciest restaurants and very boujiest artisan food shops. Ooh la la, indeed.
The south London spot has been putting overpriced supermarket food to shame since opening its doors to the public back in 2020. Pre-pandemic, the warehouse (and the delicious goodies inside it) were only accessible to top London restaurants. When those restaurants were forced to close and the supermarkets ran out of – well – everything, the Deli Warehouse began to provide the families and food-lovers of Battersea with the things they weren’t able to get hold off elsewhere. At trade price, might I add. The response was so positive that they’ve never looked back – and their doors have stayed open to the public ever since. At least something good came out of the pandemic, hey?
Inside the Deli Warehouse, shoppers can expect to find a humongous selection of artisan food and premium deli items at a fraction of the price you’d pay at your local supermarket. We’re talking huge hunks of speciality cheeses (some of which you can’t find anywhere else in London), entire sides of smoked salmon, a plethora of cured meats, sides, sauces, and plenty of premium wines on tap for you to fill your own bottles with. All of the very best stuff, with none of the price mark-up. It’s basically Costco – but posher.
The warehouse belongs to Harvey & Brockless, the fine food company that supply many of London’s best food joints and Michelin-starred restaurants with their produce. The company started out in the 1970s as a cheese wholesaler, supplying the likes of Harrods and The Ritz with their cheese. So yes, they’re a pretty big deal.
The warehouse itself is run by manager, Deke, who is a fountain of foodie knowledge and is always on hand to help. Just be sure to bring your own bags and bottles, and don’t forget to wrap up warm – the place is essentially a great big fridge, after all.
So, what are you waiting for? It’s time to well-and-truly level up your girl dinners, elevate your hosting skills, and reach your full home-cook potential. Bon Appetit!
The Deli Warehouse is open Wednesdays-Saturdays from 10am – 5pm and Sundays from 11am-3pm. Find out more and plan your visit here.
