If you’re out of new hobbies to try, never fear.
This lockdown has seen many of us vow to take up new skills. A perfect opportunity, since we all have bags of time to kill, to try your hand (and legs) at learning ballet. Get those dancing shoes on. [Featured Image: The Australian Ballet]
The Australian Ballet has got your back (we hear that’s important when starting out) as they are offering free weekly classes over the course of nine weeks. And, it doesn’t matter what level you’re at: there are videos for beginners, intermediates and advanced levels.
Each ballet lesson lasts around 30-40 minutes and is taught by former Australian Ballet dancer Justine Miles. The adult classes generally run in Southbank, Melbourne, but have now been expanded to a worldwide audience.
Episodes will also be left online afterward, so you can work your way through at your own pace. Who knows? Maybe some unknowingly talented dancers will be able to work their way from Beginner to Advanced in one lockdown.
Head down under to The Australian Ballet to check out the first of the episodes, which are available now. Episodes will roll out weekly, each Thursday. Given the time difference, you’ll probably first catch it on Friday here in the UK.
