From Wandsworth to Waltham Forest, our capital city has – once again – been decked out with tinsel and filled to the brim with festive cheer. So, if you fancy getting into the Christmas spirit, but don’t fancy the outrageous crowds of central London; you’ve come to the right place, my festive friends.
Transport for London has just released a convenient new Tube map, detailing the festive fun happening outside of Zone 1 this Christmas. Designed to showcase the slightly more off-the-beaten-track events; the map features a whole host of Christmassy happenings, taking place in Zone 2 and beyond.
The map highlights 19 seasonal events and festive attractions across the city, from light switch-ons and grottos to Christmas markets and ice rinks. TfL has added some handy numbers to its regular Tube map to show the nearest Tube station or bus stop to each festive event. Merry Christmas, indeed.

Activities for both adults and children have been included on the map, such as the Santa’s Grotto at Alexandra Palace, the ice rink at Battersea Power Station and the Christmas Ceramics Market in Peckham. Each event detailed on the map can be reached on the Tube, the newly-named Overground lines or the Superloop bus routes.
Justine Simons OBE, Deputy Mayor for Culture and the Creative Industries, said: “This December there are a whole host of wonderful events across London and TfL’s new Christmas map highlights some of the hidden gems that are happening outside of Zone 1. From Santa’s grottos to Christmas markets showcasing the best of London’s creatives, there is something for everyone across the capital this festive season. And thanks to the Mayor and TfL, the newly named London Overground lines and Superloop bus routes make it easier than ever to get around, building a better London for everyone.”
