Some films are just classics. No matter how often we watch them, they provide pure comfort and a sense of everything being right in the world. Now, imagine you could indulge in your favourite film in a brand-new way. We’re not talking about just watching them, but eating them too. Yep, Taste Film has taken immersive film screenings and elevated them to eat-along film screenings in London, and we’re SO on board.
Taste Film, which has venues in both Kensal Green and Moorgate, makes film-watching totally immersive: it’s a dining experience, it’s a film-watching experience, and it’s a lot of fun.
So, how exactly does Taste Film work?
Taste Film screens some of the most loved blockbusters at Parlour in Kensal Green, and The Refinery in the Citypoint building, Moorgate. These eateries provide the perfect setting to settle down for a few hours, and get comfy for an intimate screening. However, forget the bog-standard popcorn; here, you’ll be served a terrific three-course meal timed to the film, plus one drink (alcoholic option included).
The immersive experience offers vegan and gluten-free menu options per film, plus non-alcoholic drinks, so most dietary requirements are catered for. All you need to do is roll up to the venue 30 minutes before your showing starts and come with an appetite for good food and good entertainment.
What films can I see with Taste Film?
Sink your teeth into some real classics; these are the familiar favourites getting the Taste Film treatment in London over the next few months:
🍴Romeo & Juliet (1996)
Celebrate Valentine’s month with the ultimate tragic love story: Romeo & Juliet (1996). In this famous retelling of Shakespeare’s play, you’ll dine on a menu that’ll make you fall in love. As you watch the family rivalry unfold on screen, you’ll enjoy a battle of fabulous flavours, perfectly timed with corresponding scenes. There’ll be no need to bite your thumb at anyone; you’ll have a full starter, main, and dessert to feast on.
📅 February 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 10, 11, 12, 13 & 14
📍 Parlour, Kensal Green
📽️Clueless (1995)
How you enjoy the classic teen comedy Clueless (1995) will get a makeover at Taste Film – one that our resident Valley Girl would be proud of! As you follow the Queen bee’s reign at high school, and her and her friend’s impeccable fashion choices, you’ll be able to enjoy a meal inspired by the film that will never go out of style.
📅 February 8, 14 & 15
📍 The Refinery, Moorgate
🍴 Ratatouille (2007)
Could you name a more perfect film for the Taste Film treatment? Ratatouille (2007) is all about food, after all! Don’t worry though, unlike the film, your dishes won’t be cooked up by a rat with a dream of being a chef; rather someone human, trained well in the kitchen. You’ll be able to enjoy a range of dishes during this screening, including, of course, the titular ratatouille.
📅 February 17, 18, 19 & 20
📍 Parlour, Kensal Green
📽️The Hunger Games (2012)
You won’t need to go to battle for anything at this Taste Film screening; you’ll sit back and enjoy a well-thought-out menu, served straight to your seat, instead. The Hunger Games (2012) is the first of the popular trilogy, and as you’re introduced to the dystopian, post-apocalyptic nation, you’ll eat like those in the richer districts, while still rooting for our District 12 lead character.
📅 February 28, and March 1, 2, 7, 8, & 9
📍 The Refinery, Moorgate
🍴The Princess and The Frog (2009)
Take a trip down the bayou with one of Disney’s more recent princesses. The Princess and The Frog (2009) will make you fall in love with the roaring twenties, while the menu will transport you to Louisiana. Think beignets, po’boys, gumbo, and more – I for one would be as hoppy happy as a frog after that!
📅 March 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 17, 18, 19, 20 & 21
📍 Parlour, Kensal Green
📽️Chef (2014)
A Taste Film experience inspired by the dishes of an LA food truck is sure to get mouths watering. Sit down for a screening of Chef (2014), and embark on a culinary adventure. Hey, the film is all about innovative flavours and cooking with heart, so you know you’ll be in for a tasty treat.
📅 March 28, 29 & 30, and April 4, 5 & 6
📍 The Refinery, Moorgate
🍴Bridesmaids (2011)
This is one of my favourite films. It has food, it has laughter, and it is all about female friendships. Grab the girls for Taste Film’s screening of Bridesmaids (2011). You’ll follow a maid of (dis)honour as she goes toe to toe with her bestie’s new buddy, while still trying to give the bride the wedding of her dreams. Rest assured, while there will be a chocolate fondue, there won’t be a recreation of that scene.
📅 April 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 21, 22, 23, 24 & 25
📍 Parlour, Kensal Green
📽️White Chicks (2004)
White Chicks (2004) will have you laughing into your meal, as you follow the hapless FBI agents in disguise. The cop comedy has achieved ‘cult classic’ status in recent years, but we’ll bet you’ve never enjoyed it like this before: with a feast full of NYC delights in front of you.
📅 May 9, 10, 11, 16, 17 & 18
📍 The Refinery, Moorgate
🍴Pretty Woman (1990)
Live the high life as you’re waited on at Taste Film’s screening of Pretty Woman (1990). You won’t feel like you’ve “made one big mistake” – quite the opposite actually – as you dine on the likes of a “one of everything” breakfast, and fall for the sweetheart cheesecake in the film’s final moments.
📅 May 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 19, 20, 21, 22 & 23
📍 Parlour, Kensal Green
