Katsu curries are a deliciously comforting go-to dish that Londoners can’t get enough of. It’s hard not to dislike breadcrumbed chicken with thick sauce drizzled over it, and it’s a plate that is so popular that it even has its own day dedicated to it.
National Katsu Curry Day takes place this Friday (September 27), and to celebrate, London restaurant Tampopo (which you’ll find in Wimbledon and Fitzrovia) is giving away 100 of the beloved dishes at each of their sites on the house. As the ol’ saying (probably) goes: only thing better than a katsu curry is a free katsu curry.
Tampopo will be slinging out their katsu curries on the house at pop-ups outside each restaurant, and if there’s anything that will push you through that last hurdle of Friday, it’s a big plate of food that you didn’t even have to pay for. Get that feeling in and you’ll be cruising away into the 5pm deadline and once you’ve blinked you’ll have that pint in your hand. Cheers to National Katsu Curry Day!
Speaking on the offer, Tampopo co-founder David Fox said: “Katsu Curry Day is the perfect occasion for us to give back to our amazing Tampopo community and to share one of most popular dishes – and a great way to welcome the Autumn. Our Katsu Curry has been honed to perfection over 27 years and we’re delighted to invite our fans in London to come and celebrate with us.”
Tampopo will give away 100 free Katsu Curry dishes at the pop-ups outside their Fitzrovia (3-5 Rathbone Place, W1T 1HJ) and Wimbledon (31-35 Hartfield Road, SW19 3SG) restaurants. The offer runs between 11am – 1pm while stocks last, and the free dishes will be available on a first-come, first-served basis with a limit to one-per-person.
