British school summer holidays are glorious and long, but sometimes filling the days can be a challenge. Luckily, this summer Westfield is helping you add a splash of excitement to those days off with their free Ocean Explorers event.
From August 20-29, Westfield Stratford City will transform its event space into a vibrant ocean seabed, creating a unique interactive play experience.
Families will embark on a fascinating journey through a series of activities and workshops, whilst being educated on the issues affecting the world’s oceans and its species. So you can save yourself planning a big family excursion, and strap in for a fun-filled day of learning and play!
Enter the world beneath the waves through a sea-bed themed entrance and explore oversized coral.
‘Dolphin Diving’ is an area of ocean themed trampolines where kids can let off some steam. Afterwards they will learn about the negative impact fishing nets can have on our deeping intelligent aquatic friends.
Get the creative juices flowing in Coral Cove and enjoy a range of upcycling arts and crafts using single-use plastic. This workshop will help families to understand the impact of single-use plastic on the ocean. It’s a great chance to get inventive with waste and see what you can make!
Capture the moment with a fun GIF photo at the Jolly Jellyfish. In this sensory sea-playground, pose under a giant jellyfish for an epic 360-degree photo experience.
And now it’s time to take the plunge in the Pledge Pool! An immersive, interactive tunnel installation where you can scoop up amazing tips on how to reduce waste at home.
These will help you make a personal pledge for continuing your waste-reduction journey. And kids can put their new found knowledge to the test games such as sorting the ‘trash’ from the ‘treasure’.
