Calling all taco-munchers, tequila-sippers, and lovers of Mexican food in all its guises – an enormous taco-y, tequila-y festival is winging its way to London next month and you don’t want to miss it. The Tacover is set to touch down in Richmond this August with a glorious celebration of Mexican food and drink. We’re talking a whopping 25 food traders and 15 tequila bars. It’s practically taco heaven.
The Tacover will take over the Richmond Athletic Ground from August 15-17. The weekend will feature four sessions, including family-friendly ones and adults-only evening sessions. It’s the second time the event has taken over the Richmond site, and it’s the sixth iteration of the festival in just three years.
From festival to festival, and from year to year, it just keeps on getting bigger! In fact, according to their IG bio, it’s “Europe’s Biggest Taco Festival”!
Now, while it may be a huge foodie festival, the Tacover team are making sure to keep prices low (you hear that, Glastonbury?). Tacos are capped at £4 each, and taco vendors will have a minimum offering of 3 tacos (one of which is vegan). Meanwhile, each drink vendor will have a signature cocktail capped at £10, which is a far sight cheaper than London’s top cocktail bars!

Next month’s event will feature a range of vendors from across the city and the country. They include:

As well as the tacos, there will also be plenty of drinks on offer. Vendors include:

- Sagrado
- and more…
Oh, and there will be plenty of tequila, mezcal, and other Mexican drinks (including Jarritos sodas) to taste as well in between taco bites.
More than just tacos
And to keep your appetites sated and to cater to all tastes, there’s much more than just tacos and tequila on offer. As well as the namesake tacos, there will also be a Mexican street food stand. Here, traders will also be selling dishes such as tamales, Churros, Mexican ice cream, chicharrón, elote, and more. That’s in addition to a Mexican craft market for keen shoppers to browse.
But wait – there’s more! The Tacover festival will also feature an awards ceremony giving out prizes for the top tacos and cocktails. Plus, there will be plenty of live entertainment – some of which you can even participate in yourself. This ranges from the Tortilla Slap Challenge to the Hot Taco Challenge, in addition to Mariachi and roaming Luchadores.
All that to say, there truly is something for everyone at the Tacover. Be sure to come hungry so you can chomp your way through everything that awaits.
