It’s safe to say you can have a pretty good time at The Standard, London: You can hop from the hotel’s chic ground floor bar to their gorgeous rooftop hangout, which opened more recently in summer 2021. Now, you can add another stop to that list: Sweeties, their brand new glitzy cocktail bar, disco, and late-night lounge with floor-to-ceiling views of St Pancras station.
Now open on the 10th floor of the 5-star hotel, Sweeties promises ‘naturally mood-boosting cocktails’ in a 1970s Hollywood-inspired lounge. Upon entering, you’ll be greeted by a disco ball, velvet sofas, leather banquettes, mirrored tables, and, interestingly enough, a six-foot ‘antique phallic sculpture’ (which isn’t pictured here, but we’re rather curious to see…).
The bar’s theme is ‘new wave glamour meets glorious misbehaviour’, which sounds both intriguing and incredibly fun, and might also explain the somewhat risqué decor. But let’s get back to those mood-boosting cocktails, shall we? The menu features innovative drinks created by The Standard and mixologists Jack Sotti and Todd Austin, which incorporate feel-good ingredients and energising adaptogens and nootropics. Basically, a bunch of uplifting stuff that will have you gliding over the dancefloor with ease.
Try the ‘Pick Me Up’ made with a blend of 8 adaptogenic mushrooms, brown vodka, buttery cacao and coffee, or the vivid blue ‘Crystal Healing’ made with spirulina, pepper dulse seaweed distillate, bergamot, and electrolyte-rich coconut ice. If that sounds like it’s enough to get your head spinning, most cocktails will also be available in non-alcoholic versions.
With an exciting roster of DJs lined up, Sweeties looks to be an excellent spot to dance into the early morning hours, perhaps after a sunset drink at The Standard’s lovely rooftop bar. Make sure to stop by now that it’s open!
