Having an excuse to don your greatest (and gaudiest) seasonal sweater has got to be one of the best parts of Christmas, right? And there’s no better excuse than Save the Children’s annual Christmas Jumper Day, which this year falls on Thursday, December 7.
Since launching in 2012, Christmas Jumper Day has raised a whopping £35million to help transform the lives of children in the UK and across the world. This year, for their twelfth edition of the initiative, Save the Children have joined forces with beloved vintage chain, Beyond Retro, and together, they are launching a first-of-its-kind Christmas Jumper store.
Story Knits will be opening in Covent Garden tomorrow (December 1) for one week only. A curated collection of pre-loved knits will be provided by Beyond Retro, bringing to life the stories of 91 children (the number of young people helped by the charity every single minute).
Each jumper has been hand-picked and named after a child. Every knit will be accompanied by a label, telling the story of that child. Visitors to the store will not only be taking home a one-of-a-kind second-hand jumper, but also a story that will truly connect them with the wonderful work done by the charity.
The Christmas jumpers will each cost £30, with 100% of the proceeds going to Save the Children and the work they do to provide children across the globe with the food, healthcare and education that they need.
Up your festive finery game this year with a visit the Story Knits. Good for your winter wardrobe and your conscience… What’s not to love?
Story Knits will be open from Friday, December 1 – Thursday, December 7.
