We’re all about championing the written word around these parts, so when a new festival dedicated entirely to books and authors comes to town, you best believe you’ll be hearing about it from us. Next week, an offering from Scots In London is bringing together Scottish Organisations in the city to provide a week of bookish goings on at St Columba’s Church.
Running between November 25 – December 1, the inaugural St Andrew’s Book Festival will treat Londoners to a roster of talks and events celebrating Scottish literary talents that is perfect for those hoping to squeeze another bookish event in before the year is out.
St Andrew’s Book Festival
For their first-ever outing, St Andrew’s Book Festival has pulled out the stops, with a lineup of household names and emerging authors that will be appearing across the week.
Highlights across the festival include Ian Rankin in conversation with Georgina Godwin on November 30, with the Scottish crime fiction powerhouse discussing his latest book in the ‘John Rebus’ set of novels – the 25th outing in the series! You’ll also be able to be able to attend Georgia Godwin’s conversation with Judy Murray, who will talk about her novel The Wild Card which follows the fictional Abigail Patterson who finds herself back as a surprise entrant to Wimbledon 20 years after abandoning her tennis career aged 17.
Ann Cleaves will also be talking to Sam Baker about the creation of how she creates incredible suspense tales like TV detective dramas Shetland and Vera; and you’ll also have the opportunity to see poets Hollie McNish and Len Pennie performing works from their new books Lobster and Poyums, respectively.
Events at St Andrew’s Book Festival run between November 25 – December 1 at St. Columba’s Church of Scotland, Pont Street, SW1X 0BD. You can find out more information, read about the entire lineup, and book your spots here.
