Gripping the world with its ruthlessness, heart-wrenching storylines and moral questions, South Korean thriller series Squid Game has become a global hit since it premiered in 2021. But all good things must come to an end, and now the series is finishing its critically acclaimed run with a third and final season, which is now available on Netflix if you fancy an edge-of-your-seat, tension-filled, six-episode binge-watch. No spoilers here, we are also yet to watch…
What is the plot of Squid Game season 3?
The question is, is it possible to have a happy ending in a world where no character is safe? Over the course of three seasons, we have seen allies and enemies meet untimely ends, some admittedly deserved, some decidedly less so, but the protagonist Seong Gi-hun has lived to tell the (let’s face it, pretty bleak) tale. Will he make it out of this one (relatively) unscathed?
In this climactic third season, things have somehow been scaled up another deadly notch. We see a grieving and plagued with guilt Gi-hun stepping back into the arena following the second season’s dramatic cliffhanger, as there is no rest, even for the (not-s0) wicked, in the Squid Game reality. As the characters battle through each sadistic round, loyalty will be tested and every choice will come with grave consequences. The season will reveal whether the Front Man emerges victorious, Jun-ho discovers the mysterious island and Gi-hun simply makes it to the final credits.
