It’s October now, which means we’ve officially hit Christmas Announcement Season, and cosy bars and pop-ups are appearing left, right and centre. But we’re not complaining: winter generally equates to hot toddies and melted cheese. And with the weather officially (sort of? not really?) cooling down, we’re more than ready to whip out our Big Coats and welcome our favourite Christmas traditions — and that includes Jimmy’s Winter Lodge.
That’s right, Jimmy’s Winter Lodge is returning for 2023 with its impressive, Thames-side pop-up; magical snow globes and all. Just like last year, they’re once again calling it ‘Fire and Fromage‘ (because, you know, there’s going to be a lot of fromage…). Groups of up to 10 people can take refuge in the cosy, heated igloos, while enjoying a special three-course winter sample menu. Tuck into Alpine fondue, nibble on mixed charcuterie boards, and try their mighty hot stone-cooked steak. Due to high demand, groups must book their private globes in advance.
Here’s how much fun we had last year:
If you don’t want to shell out on an igloo experience, there’s also a heated Raclette Bar next door, serving up mulled cider and cocktails (and the very same riverside views). There you’ll find a more affordable set menu, featuring unlimited raclette with all the trimmings, white chocolate ice cream with a mulled wine reduction (darling), and marshmallows for toasting.
Fire and Fromage is the perfect spot for Christmas get togethers and festive outings; whether you settle down for a meal or just grab a hot drink at the bar after a stroll along the Thames.
Find ‘Fire and Fromage’ along the South Bank from November 2 to December 31, 2023. Find more info and book your table for either the snow globes or neighbouring Raclette Bar over on the Jimmy’s Pop-Up website.
