Got the stones? Head up to Roof East for a spot of curling this winter.
When the Winter Olympics roll around and bring curling fever to the masses, you may feel the urge to hop on the ice for a curls night out. If you’ve been known to suffer from this common affliction, then a trip to Roof East is just what the doctor ordered. Up amongst the heights of Stratford, SFG Club are bringing curling back to the roof from November 1st – and this year, it’s got a Jamaican twist…
To celebrate the 25th anniversary of the incomparable Cool Runnings, Roof East are throwing a Caribbean Christmas party. Think tropical inspired decor, neon as far as the eye can see, and a steel drum band playing Christmas classics all winter long. Whilst the weather may be chilly, the competition will hot up when you and your pals step onto the rink at Sliders, ready to do battle – once you’ve got your tickets, of course.
It’s a pretty storming place to slide and glide your way to glory – or at least bragging rights over your buddies. You’ve still got time to brush up on the rules, too. And whilst there are definitely more broom puns we could make here, we’re not sure you can handle them… ok, we’re actually done now. Once you’ve conquered the competition, you can sup from the cup of victory, with the likes of boozy hot chocolate and hot buttered rum on offer.
You’ll also find tropical cocktails given a winter twist, as seen in the Winter Zombie and the Apple Strudel Mojito. Food comes from Jimmy Garcia’s BBQ Club, and I’d hazard a guess at rivers of melted cheese being a central feature. Sadly, last year’s igloos won’t be returning, but Roof East will be furnished with bobsleighs this year, which – whisper it – might be even cooler. (Plus, you can always get your igloo fix here).
Only one thing left to say, isn’t there? Feel the rhythm, feel the rhyme! Get on up, it’s curling time! Grab your tickets here.
