The Skylight empire expands with the addition of Skylight Peckham.
As we all know, London just can’t get enough of rooftop bars. It’s both a blessing (in that we love them) and a curse (in that I’m paralysed by choice when trying to decide where to go), and if the capital has a capital of rooftops, you’ll likely find it down in Peckham, where Frank’s Café, the Bussey Bar, and Forza Wine all sit in close proximity. They now have some more competition, as the team behind Wapping hotspot Skylight have opened a new rooftop bar in the area: Skylight Peckham.
Known for cocktails and croquet, amongst other diversions, Skylight’s Peckham outpost has settled upon the top of the Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts. Whilst rooftop games (and ice skating in the winter) are the hallmark of the original Skylight, the new venue is a more relaxed affair with a stronger focus on food.
Light lunches and small plates will feature, along with sharing platters to split amongst friends – and you’d better believe they’ll be offering brunch as well. Dreamy cocktails and an excellent wine selection will no doubt make an appearance at some stage during your visit, too.
Skylight Peckham holds 250 well-fed guests, and also promises “a vista like no other in London”, with the likes of The Shard and the O2 Arena falling neatly into your eyeline. Those views are supplemented by stylish interior décor, with sleek metal fixtures and comfy seating a large attraction of the indoor space, and a laidback cabana style on the outdoor terrace.
The bar is designed as an all-day space, allowing you to kick back with coffees at lunch, grab a post-work bite, and settle in with cocktails as the sun slowly sinks over the London skyline. I don’t know about you, but I could happily while away a day doing just that!
